Annita Apostolidou Platis has received an Honorable Mention in the Black & White 2026 International Juried Exhibition, organized by Colors of Humanity Art Gallery.

The exhibition brought together 43 selected artworks from artists representing ten U.S. states and seven additional countries—Canada, France, Greece, Kazakhstan, Serbia, South Korea, and Sweden. The juried exhibition presented a wide range of artistic approaches across traditional and contemporary media, celebrating the expressive possibilities of monochrome.

Her awarded artwork, The Old Gate, is a mixed media digital collage exploring transformation through symbolism rather than narrative. A weathered marble sculpture stands as a guardian of memory and former identities, while a contemporary female figure occupies the threshold between past and future. Beside her, a white crane symbolizes hope, guidance, and renewal, while an ancient bonsai evokes resilience shaped through time. Beyond them, the sea opens toward an unseen horizon, suggesting possibility and the quiet courage required to embrace change.

Working exclusively in black and white, the composition emphasizes light, texture, and symbolic relationships, allowing the emotional architecture of the image to emerge without the influence of color. The monochromatic palette reinforces the timeless character of the work, inviting viewers to reflect on memory, transition, and personal rebirth.

Colors of Humanity Art Gallery also announced that ten percent of all entry fees from the exhibition would be donated to Heart to Heart International, supporting humanitarian and global health initiatives.

This recognition adds another international distinction to Annita Apostolidou Platis' growing record of awards, reflecting the continued international appreciation of her symbolic visual language and multidisciplinary artistic practice.
