In July 2025, I was deeply honored to receive the Lady and Knight of Art Award from Fondazione Costanza in recognition of my contribution to contemporary art and culture.

The award ceremony took place in Carini, Palermo, Italy, at the Oleificio Failla, in the presence of journalists, photographers, and cultural representatives. Presented by Dr. Alessandro Costanza, President of the Foundation, this distinction celebrates artists whose work reflects excellence, originality, and devotion to the advancement of art.

My series The Era Clockmakers was selected as the artistic focus for this honor — a body of work that explores time, memory, and creation as parallel dimensions within human experience.

The event reaffirmed my belief that art is a living bridge between heritage and innovation, uniting diverse voices under the timeless pursuit of beauty and truth.

An intimate reflection on how cities become muses—each one a cinematic chapter shaping Annita Apostolidou Platis’s artistic vision, where memory, time, and creativity converge.

As an artist, my journey through inspirational cities, unfolds like a cinematic tableau, each scene rich with intimate moments and expansive inspirations. I have some specific cities that I separate from others.

Inside these cities, I am a traveler not just through spaces but through time, each visit a brushstroke on the canvas of my life. They are not just places but pivotal chapters in my ongoing story, each a muse to my art, each a mirror to my soul.

I amidst the flux of time and the stillness of memories, I craft my narratives, I take notes for my next artistic projects, because time is a river that fluids inside of me, unfurls its silent wings, whispering secrets of what was and weaving the infinite tapestries of what’s yet to be.

Ως καλλιτέχνις, το ταξίδι μου μέσα από εμπνευσμένες πόλεις αναδύεται σαν κινηματογραφικό ταμπλό, κάθε σκηνή γεμάτη με οικείες στιγμές και απέραντες έμπνευσεις. Μέσα σε αυτές τις πόλεις - έχω πάντα κάποιες που ξεχωρίζω - ταξιδεύω όχι μόνο μέσα στον χώρο αλλά και στον χρόνο, κάθε επίσκεψη αποτελεί μία πινελιά στον καμβά της ζωής μου. Δεν είναι απλώς τόποι, αλλά καίρια κεφάλαια στη διαρκή ιστορία μου, κάθε μία μούσα της τέχνης μου, κάθε μία καθρέφτης της ψυχής μου.

Μέσα στη ροή του χρόνου και την ηρεμία των αναμνήσεων, διαμορφώνω τις αφηγήσεις μου, σημειώνω ιδέες για τα επόμενα καλλιτεχνικά μου έργα, γιατί ο χρόνος είναι ένας ποταμός που ρέει μέσα μου, αναπτύσσοντας σιωπηλά τα φτερά του, ψιθυρίζοντας μυστικά του παρελθόντος και υφαίνοντας την απεραντοσύνη του μέλλοντος.

As the curtains close on the Spring International Art Exhibition at the Barbagelata Contemporary Art Foundation, I find myself enveloped in a profound sense of gratitude and inspiration. This exhibition not only showcased diverse talents and perspectives but also provided me with a unique opportunity to engage with art in the dual roles of artist and curator.

The art piece "The Gift, The One Who Holds The Elixir," which featured in the exhibition, explores the delicate impermanence of beauty, captured through the ethereal symbolism of the cherry blossom. This theme resonated deeply with the audience, prompting reflections on the transient yet impactful moments that define our existence.

I am deeply honored to have been awarded the Certificate of Artistic Merit by the foundation. "Annita is a distinguished Greek painter and curator celebrated for her dynamic use of color and transformative expertise in form. Born and based in Athens, Annita began her artistic journey at the age of eight through private lessons with Dimitris Kantopoulos, a revered painter and professor at the School of Fine Arts. Her deep connection to her heritage continuously propels her to push the boundaries of contemporary art.

Annita's educational journey is as diverse as her artistic expressions, including studies in fashion at the Veloudakis Fashion School and fashion and jewelry design at the Marangoni Institute in Milan. She holds an Advanced Diploma in Fashion, a Master's Degree in Jewelry Design & Accessories, and has completed advanced studies in Interior Design.

Fluent in English, Italian, French, and Greek, Annita's art transcends linguistic barriers. She draws inspiration from various artistic movements such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Surrealism, and from artists like Erté, Alphonse Mucha, and Salvador Dali. Her work skillfully blends historical and contemporary elements.

In 2016, Annita reinvigorated her focus on fine arts, utilizing mediums such as acrylics, ink, and impasto to create surreal figures and landscapes often incorporating her own poetic compositions. Her exploration into mixed media digital collage further demonstrates her innovative approach, merging traditional techniques with digital artistry.

Annita's contributions to the art world are recognized globally, evidenced by numerous awards from prestigious art institutions. Abstract art speaks through color and poetic brushstrokes. Featuring “Shades” from my Words collection, this reflection explores how abstraction conveys emotions unbound by form.

As an artist, I staunchly believe that abstract art demands a mastery over color and poetic brush strokes. These elements are not just tools but the very language through which abstract art speaks, conveying emotions and thoughts unbound by form. Mastery in color usage and the eloquence of each stroke transform abstract pieces into profound expressions of human experience.

Ως καλλιτέχνιδα, πιστεύω ακράδαντα ότι η αφηρημένη τέχνη απαιτεί μια κυριαρχία πάνω στο χρώμα και ποιητικές πινελιές. Αυτά τα στοιχεία δεν είναι μόνο εργαλεία αλλά η ίδια η γλώσσα μέσω της οποίας μιλάει η αφηρημένη τέχνη, μεταφέροντας συναισθήματα και σκέψεις που δεν δεσμεύονται από τη μορφή. Η άριστη γνώση της χρήσης των χρωμάτων και η «ευγλωττία» κάθε πινελιάς μετατρέπουν αφηρημένα κομμάτια σε βαθιές εκφράσεις της ανθρώπινης εμπειρίας.

The Woman, muse and driving force of life, weaves the canvas of love, standing as the beacon of creation. Her patience and perseverance are inexhaustible. She is the one who should be celebrated every day.

In the journey towards the eradication of prejudices and barriers, we seek a world where respect and appreciation form the foundation for every woman. Today is not exactly a celebration, but a significant reminder. We highlight progress and, at the same time, challenges such as violence and abuse. We encourage solidarity, support for women seeking justice, accelerating their equality and leadership. Through empowering every woman, we pave the way for a better world, a world of equality and justice. Happy International Women’s Day.

Η Γυναίκα, μούσα και κινητήρια δύναμη της ζωής, υφαίνει τον καμβά της αγάπης, στέκεται ως ο φάρος της δημιουργίας. Η υπομονή και η επιμονή της ανεξάντλητες. Είναι εκείνη που πρέπει να γιορτάζει κάθε μέρα. Στην πορεία για την εξάλειψη προκαταλήψεων και εμποδίων, αναζητούμε έναν κόσμο όπου ο σεβασμός και η εκτίμηση αποτελούν το βάθρο για κάθε γυναίκα. Η σημερινή μέρα δεν είναι ακριβώς γιορτή, αλλά μια σημαντική υπενθύμιση. Επισημαίνουμε την πρόοδο και ταυτόχρονα τις προκλήσεις, όπως η βία και η κακοποίηση. Ενθαρρύνουμε την αλληλεγγύη, την υποστήριξη σε γυναίκες που ζητούν δικαιοσύνη, επιταχύνοντας την ισότητα και την ηγεσία τους. Μέσα από την ενδυνάμωση κάθε γυναίκας, ανοίγουμε δρόμους για έναν κόσμο καλύτερο, έναν κόσμο ισότητας και δικαιοσύνης. Καλή Παγκόσμια Ημέρα της Γυναίκας.
