Featured in BCAF Art Magazine, "Whispers of the Seer" is a key piece from my latest series, "Legends - The Code." This artwork delves into the mystical realm of the Pythia, the ancient oracle of Delphi, through whom Apollo relayed his divine prophecies. Set against a backdrop of darkness that represents the unknown, the piece is illuminated by touches of gold, symbolizing the divine light of knowledge and truth. Ancient columns and mystical creatures frame the Pythia, adding layers of cultural and spiritual depth. As one of the four artworks from this series showcased in the magazine, it emphasizes the continual relevance of historical wisdom in modern contexts. This piece invites viewers to ponder the enduring influence of ancient insights on contemporary life, showcasing how the echoes of the past still resonate profoundly in our present.

A Season of Artistic Reflection

Annita Apostolidou Platis closes the Spring International Art Exhibition with gratitude and inspiration. Featuring her artwork The Gift, The One Who Holds The Elixir and honored with a Certificate of Artistic Merit, she reflects on impermanence, curatorial practice, and the collaborative spirit that shaped the event.

Closing Thoughts on the Spring International Art Exhibition

As the curtains close on the Spring International Art Exhibition at the Barbagelata Contemporary Art Foundation, I find myself enveloped in a profound sense of gratitude and inspiration. This exhibition not only showcased diverse talents and perspectives but also provided me with a unique opportunity to engage with art in the dual roles of artist and curator.

The art piece "The Gift, The One Who Holds The Elixir," which featured in the exhibition, explores the delicate impermanence of beauty, captured through the ethereal symbolism of the cherry blossom. This theme resonated deeply with the audience, prompting reflections on the transient yet impactful moments that define our existence.

I am deeply honored to have been awarded the Certificate of Artistic Merit by the foundation. This accolade is not just a recognition of my individual contribution but also a testament to the collaborative spirit that animated this event. The foundation's feedback—"Your contributions significantly enriched the event, and your unwavering commitment to your artistry was vividly evident in your works"—is particularly gratifying. It reaffirms my dedication to pushing the boundaries of artistic expression and engagement.

Behind the scenes, the journey was equally enriching. Working alongside a vibrant community of artists and thinkers, I was able to weave a narrative that extended beyond the visual and ventured into the experiential. From the initial concept to the final day of the exhibition, every step was a learning curve, steeped in the collective ethos of creative exploration.

As I reflect on these experiences, the recognition I received is not merely a personal achievement but a bridge to future artistic endeavors. It is a reminder of the responsibilities and possibilities that come with curatorial and artistic practices—of curating not just art but also curating life's ephemeral stories.

Looking forward, I am excited about the paths that now lay open. The interactions, insights, and inspirations from this exhibition will undoubtedly shape my future projects. I am eager to explore new horizons, continue my dialogues with fellow artists, and contribute to the vibrant tapestry of the global art community.

Thank you to everyone who visited, engaged with, and supported this exhibition. Your enthusiasm fuels the art we create and the stories we tell. Here's to continuing this beautiful journey together, with art as our shared language and exploration as our collective adventure. - Annita A.

She draws inspiration from various artistic movements such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and Surrealism, and from artists like Erté, Alphonse Mucha, and Salvador Dali. Her work skillfully blends historical and contemporary elements.

In 2016, Annita reinvigorated her focus on fine arts, utilizing mediums such as acrylics, ink, and impasto to create surreal figures and landscapes often incorporating her own poetic compositions. Her exploration into mixed media digital collage further demonstrates her innovative approach, merging traditional techniques with digital artistry.

Annita's contributions to the art world are recognized globally, evidenced by numerous awards from prestigious art institutions. Her accolades include the "HERMES, il messaggero degli Dei" and "POSEIDONE, il Dio dei Mari" from the Accademia Italia In Arte Nel Mondo, recognitions for promoting the values of Olympism from the National Olympic Academy of Greece.and the "INTERNATIONAL CAREER AWARDS 2023 – TALENTS AND PROFESSIONALS" from the Fondazione Costanza."

Life’s Fleeting Beauty: My Dual Role at The Spring International Art Exhibition

Annita Apostolidou Platis joins The Spring International Art Exhibition in Barcelona as both curator and artist, presenting The Gift (The One Who Holds The Elixir)—a tribute to life’s fleeting beauty and the symbolism of cherry blossoms.

BCAF - Barcelona, Spain

"Through my work, I invite viewers to contemplate the cycle of life, a theme celebrated by the ancients and deeply embedded in Japanese tradition. The delicate petals of the cherry blossom, embodying both birth and death, serve as a poignant reminder of the ephemeral moments we share, urging us to cherish every fleeting instant." Annita Apostolidou Platis

I'm thrilled to both curate and participate in The Spring International Art Exhibition, showcasing my work alongside outstanding global artists. My artwork, "The Gift (The One Who Holds The Elixir)," reflects on life's fleeting beauty through the lens of Japanese tradition, where the delicate cherry blossom symbolizes the ephemeral nature of existence. A heartfelt thank you to the Barbagelata Contemporary Art Foundation for this wonderful collaboration.

"Embracing the Spectrum of Spring"

In her curatorial essay “Embracing the Spectrum of Spring” for the Barbagelata Contemporary Art Foundation, Annita Apostolidou Platis reflects on the season’s paradoxical nature—celebrating renewal while exploring deeper layers of melancholy, myth, and cultural memory.

article by Annita Apostolidou Platis

"In this collaborative exploration with the BCAF, I delve into the profound dualities of spring—a season as paradoxical as it is inspiring. As both curator and contributor, I guide readers through the emotional and symbolic spectrum that spring invokes. Synonymous with renewal and joy, spring also stirs deep sentimentality and introspective sadness. Through the lens of iconic cultural artifacts like Ella Fitzgerald's 'Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most' and Mary Oliver’s 'Spring Azures,' this article delves into the season's complex emotions. It also examines mythological figures such as Persephone and Konohanasakuya-hime, unveiling the cyclical interplay of life and death that defines spring. Let's uncover the nuanced layers of rebirth and reflection that spring inspires in art and culture."
