Ruby Award | The Ornament of Dawn |November 2025| Gallery Ring, Canada
Honored with the Ruby Award at Gallery Ring’s ANIMAL 2025 Exhibition for The Ornament of Dawn, a work from my series Rugs & Reverence celebrating equine symbolism, ornamental heritage, and ancestral memory.
Gallery Ring · ANIMAL International Juried Exhibition 2025
I am deeply honored to receive the Ruby Award, one of Gallery Ring’s most distinguished recognitions, for my artwork The Ornament of Dawn from the series Rugs & Reverence.
About the Artwork
The Ornament of Dawn captures a moment where light, memory, and heritage converge.
Crimson and gold rise like morning fire on the horse’s face, while floral arabesques and geometric tracings echo the timeless language of woven traditions. In this piece, the horse becomes a living emblem of endurance, beauty, and devotion — a quiet prayer in motion.
About the Series
Rugs & Reverence is a meditation on ancestry and symbolism.
In this collection, animals serve as vessels of remembrance, carrying the woven stories of ancient civilizations. Through digital collage, ornamental pattern, and painterly texture, each work explores how design becomes spirit and how beauty becomes faith.
I extend my sincere thanks to Gallery Ring for this honor and for their continued support of artists around the world.

Ruby Award & International Honors for The Luminous Abyss|
Annita Apostolidou Platis
I am deeply honored to share that my artwork The Curtain Knows, from the ongoing series The Luminous Abyss, has received the Ruby Award in the RED 2025 International Juried Contest, organized by Gallery Ring in Ontario, Canada. This recognition, known for celebrating originality, composition, and emotional power, represents a significant milestone in my artistic journey.
About The Curtain Knows
The Curtain Knows is a meditation on the delicate balance between revelation and concealment. Beneath the striped grandeur of a circus-tent crown, the central figure stands as both ringmaster and secret-keeper. Lamps and parasols become silent witnesses, their light uncovering fleeting truths while guarding what remains hidden.
The work reflects the emotional tension between light and darkness, a central theme across The Luminous Abyss. Chandeliers, lampshades, and glowing bulbs are more than decorative details — they act as portals into the soul’s hidden architecture, bridging retro opulence with timeless human vulnerability.
Significance of the Ruby Award
Being recognized with the Ruby Award by Gallery Ring is not only an honor but also a validation of the symbolic language and emotional depth I strive to cultivate in my practice. The award highlights The Curtain Knows for its strong visual presence, originality, and symbolic resonance. Featured in the 3D Rotation Gallery and the official Winners Video, the piece stands among selected works celebrated for their evocative power and technical mastery.
Continuing the Journey of The Luminous Abyss
The year 2025 has brought multiple international distinctions for The Luminous Abyss, affirming its resonance across borders and institutions. Alongside the Ruby Award for The Curtain Knows, the series was also recognized with the Ruby Artist of the Month for The Oracle of Opaline Brass (Gallery Ring, Canada), the Creative Excellence Award for She Who Glows in the Dark (Circle Foundation for the Arts, France), and the Artist of the Month for The Light Dwells in Shadows (Camelback Gallery, USA).
Together, these awards confirm The Luminous Abyss as a cornerstone of my evolving practice — a dreamlike theatre where memory, identity, and symbolism converge into luminous form.
