Fashion goes round in circles. Annita Apostolidou Platis shares how her studies in Milan shaped her artistic vision, blending heritage, couture, and innovation into a timeless dialogue of culture and identity.

Studying fashion offers a comprehensive understanding of the art and science of clothing, from its historical roots to its impact on society and the environment.

Fashion is not merely about garments—it is a cultural narrative, a mirror of identity, and a timeless dialogue between creativity and society. Fashion goes round in circles, yet each return brings with it new layers of meaning, reinterpretation, and innovation.

My own journey began in Athens and later unfolded in Milan, where I studied fashion and jewelry design at the prestigious Marangoni Institute. This experience provided me with both a rigorous foundation in haute couture craftsmanship and a vision of fashion as an evolving art form. Fashion, for me, was never just about fabric or ornament—it was about weaving together heritage, innovation, and storytelling.

Over time, my practice expanded into painting, poetry, and curatorial writing. Yet fashion remained at the core of my artistic DNA, informing my understanding of structure, detail, and aesthetic harmony. Just as a gown requires balance between silhouette and texture, my artworks demand the same dialogue between form and emotion.

In today’s world, fashion continues to reinvent itself. Sustainability, diversity, and technology reshape its boundaries, ensuring its relevance in both artistic and social contexts. For me, fashion is a language—one that communicates elegance, resilience, and transformation. It is a cycle of rebirth that, much like art itself, connects the past to the present while gesturing toward the future.

I always remember what is important.

For me, art is not simply creation—it is an ongoing study of the human condition, a dialogue between inner reflection and outer expression. Studying art enriches one’s understanding of humanity and the diversity of voices that shape our cultural heritage.

My Lady Hope - Official Selection

Lady Hope, officially selected for the Holiday Advent Show 2023 by Gallery Ring, is a Christmas-inspired artwork reflecting childhood memories, faith, and the timeless spirit of hope.

I feel truly blessed because during Christmas season my artwork titled “Lady Hope” was the OFFICIAL SELECTION

for December 5th in The Holiday Advent Show 2023, @ the Gallery Ring,

Ontario, Canada.

My “Lady Hope”, is an artwork inspired from my childhood memories. An artwork that reminds the true spirit of Christmas.

Though I’ve grown up the bell of Santa’s Sleigh still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.

Women are all unique.

Through the journey of life, women become wiser and stronger.

Being a woman is about resilience, mutual support, patience, care, and love. It is about breaking cages, finding one’s voice, and pushing beyond limitations.

To be a woman is to strive toward our goals, even in the face of adversity. It means sharing ideas, honoring creativity, and building new possibilities for the future.

On this International Women’s Day, let’s celebrate all the amazing women in our lives—their achievements, their strength, and their commitment to creating a better, more equal world for everyone.
